This has certainly been a strange and unexpected time in our world. It has officially been over a month since Governor Pritzker and several others issued a shelter in place order.
Over the last several weeks we have had to pivot and adapt to new ways of providing supports to the people we serve. Several of our staff are performing tasks outside of their job descriptions, those that can are working from home, and our essential front-line team members are demonstrating great flexibility and creativity when supporting residents who have been sheltering in place since the middle of March.
We know this is a very difficult time for everyone. Your loved one may not understand why they can’t go to work and see their friends, they may be getting restless being at home, you may find yourself struggling without some of our usual supports. Since the start of May we have been planning our strategy on reopening our homes to visitors, and the implementation of new requirements we will have to follow as we slowly start our educational and all of our employment services back up the first part of June.
We continue to remain positive and will take every effort in communicating with you. If you don’t already, I encourage you to follow us on social media. This is where you can stay up-to-date and see some of the things we are working on. If we all continue to practice social distancing and healthy choices we will hopefully be together again soon. Stay home, stay safe, and be well.
