EP!C (formerly PARC) is very proud and thankful to our founding parents, families, advocates, and community leaders who believed that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities could have a career, live with minimal support or independently in the community, and have a full and meaningful life.
Clinic not only helped the children, but it also afforded the parents an opportunity to meet and get acquainted with one another, and to share common concerns. This resulted in a meeting of parents and interested community leaders. In August 1950, a class of ten children began meeting at Neighborhood House with Eleanor Norton as their teacher.
After 70 years, we continue to partner with our families, advocates, community, and business leaders to provide education, training, coaching, residential and other supports so people with disabilities can work, volunteer, and get involved in their communities.
Some of our successes over the past year are that we’ve partnered with over 37 different employers to employ people with disabilities, and 60 Host Home Providers contract with us to provide the opportunity for people with disabilities to live in a private home rather than a group home environment.
As the needs and interests of people change, so will our programs. For 70 years we’ve been proud to be an innovative and adaptive asset to the areas we serve. We have decided to extend the commemoration of EP!C’s mission and our 70th anniversary through this next year. We invite you to follow along and celebrate with us into 2021.
