A Message from our CEO

Take time to show your appreciation for the talented and dedicated people that work at EP!C in the position of Direct  Support Professionals (DSPs). We will celebrate Direct Support Professionals Recognition Week Sept. 10–15. EP!C’s
DSP staff, along with other dedicated DSPs across the country, are some of the most valuable people in the lives of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

DSPs help the people EP!C supports achieve productive and fulfilling lives. We will be celebrating our DSPs with several surprises throughout the week- tune into our Facebook page to see the surprises unfold!

Please take time to thank the DSPs in your life with a kind word, card or hug for the caring and compassionate work our Direct Support Professionals provide.

EP!C Night at the Ballpark

On August 11th, over 180 people came out to support “EP!C Night” at Dozer Park in downtown Peoria. Our very own James Zogg participated in the first pitch of the game complete with an autographed baseball from Austin Warner.

The Giving Tree – 2017

Help make the holidays brighter for our individuals at EP!C.

The Giving Tree provides an opportunity for both EP!C staff and community members to purchase gifts for program participants who would not normally receive a gift during the holidays.

For more info contact Cherie Murphy at 309-689-3614 or cmurphy@epicpeoria.org.

EP!C Achievement

MOLLY KUSTER

Respectful, dedicated, trustworthy, thorough, flexible, loyal, and kind are just some of the words that best describe Molly according to her supervisor. Continually going above and beyond of whatever she is asked to do, Molly is always willing to lend a helping hand and leave a positive impact.

EP!C’s employee of the month for August is Molly Kuster. Congratulations!!!

Featured Programs

HOST HOMES

On a sunny August weekend, 10 escorts and 42 individuals all went on the annual Host Homes Lake Williamson vacation. From Friday to Sunday, fun and adventures were had without skipping a beat. Just as most vacations go, there was swimming, ping pong, fishing, basketball, glow in the dark dodgeball, air hockey, and much more! Everyone enjoyed being chauffeured in golf carts to get some fresh air and of course the FOOD! The buffet style meal times were met with an enthusiastic thumbs up. By the end of vacation, a hay rack ride was the perfect way to wind things down and everyone enjoyed the relaxing cruise around the lake!

Individual Spotlight

JAMES MORRIS

Who hasn’t seen James cruising up and down the hallways of EP!C? Always greeting everyone by their name and with a smile, he is the type of person who has never met a stranger.

James is known as the “music man” and has collected over 200 CD’s ranging from Country to Jazz plus many more. In his downtime you will see him finding refuge in his music, weaving in between the notes and becoming enveloped by its poetry. If James could have the opportunity, he has said he would want to be a Music DJ, sharing with others how music speaks to him.

James uses his skills to work in EP!C’s technology lab, entering data and creating EP!C’s business cards. It can be challenging at times but he continues to create with great enthusiasm!

Best piece of advice he has ever gotten: “Be kind to others and they will be kind to you.”

EP!C Thank you!

Last month, Illinois Mutual came out to play BINGO!

We want to extend a very special thank you to all of the groups and individuals who have donated their time to EP!C.  Our programs wouldn’t be nearly as successful without you!

If you are interested in volunteering this fall or winter please reach out to Carmen McCarthy at cmccarthy@epicpeoria.org.
